Our Upcoming Show!
We are very happy to introduce our judges for our APSA Open Show, and APSA Championship Show, in memory of our friend and esteemed past-member, Una Bell of Bentara Samoyeds.
Judging our Open Show: Sue Chaytor
Many of us will enjoy meeting Sue in person having seen her prolific Facebook posts about breed standards, physiology and anatomy of dogs. Sue identifies as a “Working dog person” having been involved with Border Collies for 30 years. Sue described her perspective of judging was “the study about the end of the lead”, and her judging was a focus of the importance of the dog being fit for purpose. Sue said the first time she judged she put a Samoyed up, which, from our perspective, must be considered a huge recommendation!
Judging our Championship Show: Linda Strongman
While Linda has been described as a Terrier specialist, she vigorously denied that label as she has been associated with several different breeds through many years of showing and breeding. Linda said her judging-focus is form and function, and is most interested in mouths, tail sets and construction. Linda has visited China twice this year on judging appointments, and was particularly delighted to meet some renowned Samoyed specialists on her first trip. Linda said she was very interested in the historical context of breeds, so our breed should provide Linda with a great deal of inspiration given its rich and human- oriented past.
